P.S. Zindagi Episode 2 Review

The second episode started off with Juna trying for an audition for experimental dance troupe called “Aina”. It was the first day of college for Kokab. Starting off a new life for both sisters in a foreign city.

As usual, the actors knew what they were doing. And they were exceptional. I have seen people complaining about the sisters(Juna and Kokab) talking in Hindi but I don’t think they realize that most of the Muslim people use Urdu/Hindi in their conversation at the home and even Kokab clearly said Juna lived in India for years. I was expecting more of Krishna’s humor because without his lousy English and self appreciation, the show loses one of its main charm. The plot was moving slowly and each character was getting enough time for themselves which was pretty good.

I didn’t find the episode exciting. It had so many dull moments and unnecessary extra scenes that was only making the episode long without any interesting content. Sound production was awful as well. I don’t know if the sound was of tap water running or the water running from the toilet flush. Also the water boiling sound was disturbingly loud. The volume of background sounds should have been a bit low. The lighting and directions could have been a lot better.

The first episode was interesting to watch and even made me laugh at times. My expectations were high for the second and sadly I was let down. Even though the second episode was unsatisfactory, I will be watching third and fourth and every episode because I have been kinda hooked to it and I want to know what is going to happen next. I want to know who the house owner lady is and what is the full form of JP. Also, the second episode is tilting towards a new romance between Kokab and JP. I think they will look cute together.

P.S. Zindagi Episode 1 Review

Since P.S. Zindagi is the first online sitcom in Nepal and the trailer was promising, personally, I was eager to watch it. The episode started with two roommates, Krishna, who was struggling with his life, and JP trying to persuade Krishna not to give up so easily in their room lit by candle light. Of course, the load shedding effect! An aftershock shook the conversation and terrified Krishna, crouching on the middle of the street, met two new girls; Kokab and Juna.

From the trailer and character introduction videos, I was looking forward to Juna (Kavita Srinivasan) and Krishna (Rajkumar Pudasaini). The characters were not loud and nothing was extravagant about anybody that made viewer comfortable to watch and relate. I must say the casting crew chose the finest actors to play the role because their acting seemed effortless and natural, which added value to the sitcom as most of the Nepali TV series are filled with ear-splitting  dialogue deliveries and over the top acting. The scriptwriters have transcended the humor without being too pushy. The acting, dialogues and the set was just like what the story needed; not too much, not too less. However, they could have worked better on the camera angles. I felt like it was not that bad but it could have been better.

To deliver such quality acting, humor and characters isn’t a child play. The first episode was better than I expected it to be. No extreme drama, no confusing script, no unnecessary scenes. The plot went smooth and I must say the ending made me a bit curious about the new character. It is bi-monthly series so I am having hard time to wait and find out what will happen in the next episode of P.S. Zindagi.

Nepal is all set to launch Nepal's first online sitcom ( situation comedy) web series P.S. Zindagi ( P.S. stands for Post Seismic ) from 25th April, 2016 as it marks the one year anniversary of Nepal Earthquake.

P.S. Zindagi is an exciting, edgy, new show that captures the contemporary daily reality of youth in Nepal reflecting on how Nepali people continued to live their lives after the 2015 earthquake.

+utpal jha director of the series shares,
" We wanted to show how even a disaster as huge as that earthquake was not able to dampen the multiple facets of life for people in Nepal. "

The series features 5 youth - Krishna, JP, Kokab, Juna and Dolma - in Kathmandu, and how the ongoing tremors added unexpected dimensions to their lives, trials and tribulations. All the five characters have their own eccentricities, dreams, desires, hopes and fears that reflect what a majority of youth in Nepal are facing. P.S. Zindagi reveals all of these through comic situations that arise in their daily lives.

The first episode  " The End and The Beginning " sees the introduction of  5 main characters from diverse backgrounds, and the point in time where their lives start to intersect in a nondescript building on Chhetrapati, Kathmandu.

Watch to see how their stories and characters unfold in their lives post the 2015 earthquake. Here's the first episode ( click here)
