Bijay receiving certificate from Mr. Deekshak Bhattarai Program Manager at Canopy Nepal
I am Bijay Bishwokarma, a Canopy Nepal Excellence Scholar - FESSHIP since 2015. I am currently living in Welcome Boys Hostel, Kathmandu. I am originally from Syangja. Currently, I am working at Uncles’ Bakery located at Lazimpat, Kathmandu.

After completing my +2 in 2019, I wanted to pursue a Diploma in Cooking as I have always dreamt of being a Chef since my childhood. Later, I was offered a short-term scholarship for Barista Training and Diploma in Cooking to be completed at Cocina Mitho Chha.

My journey at Cocina Mitho Chha started with a short-term scholarship and joined Barista Training. The training was for 2 weeks where I got to know all the basic knowledge of coffee from start to latte art. During the training, the trainer ensured that we meet the required standards for a barista. After completion of the course and passing the final test, a certificate of completion was issued stating I have successfully attended and completed the course.

Later, after completing the 2 weeks of Barista Training, I joined Diploma in Cooking which included 3 months in-house training at Cocina Mitho Chha followed by an internship at Radisson Hotel in the remaining Diploma period. During the internship period, I was assigned as a Chef staff for 3 months to work with the Bakery team where I learned to bake bread, cookies, cakes, pastries, and pies. Along with it, I also learned to be professional, the importance of teamwork, and networking.

Canopy Nepal Scholarship Program-FESSHIP has not only supported me in my studies, accommodation, and/or training but also took care of me during my health issues. During my +2, I struggled with some serious health issues for a year or so but the management team always monitored my health issues closely and supported as required.

My journey towards my career has been very easy due to the support from FESSHIP. FESSHIP has supported me since the inception period and created an environment for me to pursue my aim to be Chef. I have recently completed my Diploma in Cooking and Barista training and am working full time in Uncle’s Bakery. FESSHIP is the main reason who I am today and living my dream.

Scholar Highlight: Neha Rauniyar, Canopy Nepal Scholarship Programs-CANSHIP

“The first step to making the world a better place is by helping others.” With this motto in my life, I aspire to help everyone. This is the dictum of one of our scholars at Canopy Nepal Scholarship Project, Neha Rauniyar is a 14-year-old grade 8 student at Kanti Ishwori Rajyalaxmi School. Neha is a soft-spoken person and has a shy personality. Her smile reflects sincereness and genuineness.

She has a good interest in her studies and likes to learn to cure her curiosity. Her well-liked subjects are Nepali and Maths. She loves to read and relate to the stories, poems she learns in her Nepali class. She has a determined personality, due to which she likes to solve and reach to the depth of any problems, she likes to do calculations of Maths. This portrays that she never gives up and tries her level best to reach the solutions of any problems she faces. However, she does have a lot of difficulty in learning English, which she is trying to improve.

She is determined to be a doctor in the future. As mentioned already she loves helping people in need, she believes that a doctor is a server who not only serves people but brings happiness in their lives. Assisting and supporting anyone in need makes me feel happy. She mentioned that she always motivates herself by recollecting all the memories where she has ever helped someone. “I wish to be like a hand for a toddler to walk, a back for teenagers to carry their school bag, a laptop for an adult to work, and a stick for elder people to support.” She expresses her wish. Considering this as her major strength, she also realizes her weakness which is being too sensitive and emotional easily. Being sensitive or expressing emotions is not considered to be bad but one should always learn to be strong and face every situation bravely.

She is equally grateful to Canopy Nepal Scholarship Project and her family for supporting and taking care of her till now. She appreciates how her family understands and respects her sensitive personality. She also mentioned that they provide suggestions on how to control it. She also adds that Canopy Nepal Scholarship Project has provided her with all the resources and support required.

“I want to be like an apple, that not only keeps the doctors away but problems away from everyone. I want to be the apple that not only hits problems hard enough but makes sure that it never returns any time soon. Therefore, I believe in the ability to help others.”

Punctuality means doing a thing at the previously designated or appointed time. It is often said that 'art is long and time is fleeting.' Punctuality enables us to do a great deal of work within a period of time.

Punctuality is the most important characteristic of all successful people. A punctual person can complete all this task on time. The student, teachers, politicians, officials, trader, and even layman, all have to observe punctuality to win glory and success in life. Punctuality brings in its trail efficiency. It helps us to build our careers. A punctual person commands confidence and respects others. If we look at the lives of all great men, we would realize that they had got a schedule for every day. For example, Mahatma Gandhi used to rise early in the morning. He keeps up appointments and was punctual to a minute.

Most schools do not allow students to enter the school premises if they are late. A punctual student never misses any class and learns everything that the teacher teaches. The student reaches the school in time and completes their assignments within the stipulated time. Hence, they manage to do well in examinations. Hence, punctuality should be practiced from childhood.

Similarly, punctuality is very important in workplaces. A punctual person reaches the office on time. The punctuality of an employee gives a positive signal to the colleague. A punctual employee gives the impression that they are very serious about his job and is competent in efficiently discharging their duties. His boss can delegate him important tasks without any worry. He commands respect in the eyes of both his colleagues and the boss.

Punctuality is a virtue, which is doubly blessed. It imports efficiency and keeps a person fit and healthy. If we get up early in the morning and take a walk every day and follow a set program of life every day, we shall be able to keep fit and healthy. On the other hand, a look of punctuality may foster the habit of procrastination. But if we waver and show laxity in our daily programs, we may not be able to adhere to a predetermined time frame.

Let us look at nature. The sun rises at a particular time everyday with slight variation. Rainfalls in a regular pattern every year. All the seasons punctually emerge every year. The flowers bloom in spring and the earth wears green apparel during the spring season. In this way, the moon and the stars appear at a particular time. Seasons change according to a time table. Everything in nature appears at a proper time. Thus, nature teaches us to be punctual.

If we follow the course of nature, we will keep ourselves fit, healthy, and strong. No school, college, or institution can function if punctuality is not observed there. Thus, punctuality is an important ingredient of all successful people.

Punctuality implies maintaining regularity in our daily schedule of work. Punctuality is the gateway to success.
