A Voice for CHANGE

A Voice for CHANGE

Change, its what we seek everyday, change for a better life, a better society, a better nation and indeed a better world. In context of our country Nepal, where we lack development in almost every sector, change is a compulsion rather than an choice to make. But, before changing the society and Nation as a whole, are we ready to change ourselves at first?

Today, as I was browsing on my Facebook wall, I found a photo, It was an advertisement by some unknown person(only phone number mentioned) for writing a Masters Thesis for Rs. 7500 /- . Few of mine friends had shared it too saying it was illegal and  asked to share it further. As for a while, I thought, what in the world is our Nation heading, people are buying their degrees, and than what struck my mind was, knowing it was illegal, why don't we (the social aware generation) don't take these things by ourselves and take some legal actions, like making an complaint to police, go though law etc. But not, we already have an prejudice in our mind that, someone else is there to do it for us, we shared and we did out part, but is it the way we want to change ? stepping behind from our responsibility of making a better society, will we able to change the Nation?

That was just an example, the scenario is much more worst as a whole, there are problems everywhere, but one of my friend Saugat Gurung had once said me, where there are problems, there are opportunities. He, after completing is Masters in Statistics from a world ranked university in London, returned back to Nepal, not because he had less opportunities else, but because he wanted more, he wanted to change. Also not to forget my close friend Dhurba Adhikari, he also completed his maters from Metropolitan University of London, a world ranked university too, and after he has returned back to Nepal, for a change. One day when we were talking, he stated that he has started a campaign in his locality about keeping the area clean, he said every morning he takes a broom and starts cleaning the locality alone, I was surprised to know that a Masters degree holder from such a world class university doing such things, and asked him if he really can make change doing that? he said " If i cant change myself, how can i believe others to do so?" and few days he happily replied me that some other locals too are joining him every morning. And now I believe, that's how change is made.

Now, lets stop complaining how things went wrong, or what has to be done, lets start doing it by ourselves, if not others lets take an oath to change for better. And in one fine day in future, let us breathe with a peace on mind and happiness on heart, and share our story of how we changed our world to next generation.

Deepen Shrestha, currently in Germany, believes in change and is involved in activism. A person with an interest in social activism and now currently with Comeon Youth Stand Up, has been involved involved in several initiatives for Nepal from abroad.

I saw a similar advertisement near Purano Buspark, Kathmandu. I despise that!
