Match Summary
In January 22 2002 Nepali U19 Team scripted history becoming  first Youth Team(Namibia U19 also defeated Sri Lanka U19 on the same date) to defeat a Test Playing Nation in Youth ODIs.  Batting first Nepal had posted small total of 151, but Nepalese bowlers showed a lot of heart as they restricted  Pakistan for just 121.

Pakistan had won the toss and chose to field. Nepal opened with usual openers Kaniska Chaugain and Yaswant Subedi. Pakistan bowlers impressed from the word go and runs were very hard to come by for Nepal. Nepalese batsmen struggled all the way and with top score of 42 from Bardan crept past 150. Nepal were eventually knocked over for 151 in the 49th over. Junaid Zia and Kamran Sajid 4 wickets each for Pakistan. While Umar Gul picked up 2.

Gul soon turned as  Cricinfo describes "least-hyped but most successful and assured Pakistan pace product of the last few years" debuting for Pakistan in August of 2003. Junaid Zia also made it to the senior side and played 4 ODI's for Pakistan.Five Pakistani players from that U19 Team made it to the National Squad. Salman Butt, who captained the U19 side  Azar Ali and Mohammad Khalil were the other three.

152 seemed an easy target for seasoned Pakistan team. At one moment Pakistan were cruising along at 84-3 but they lost their last seven wickets for just 37 runs giving Nepal 30 runs victory. Shakti Gauchan and Sanjam Regmi picked up 3 wickets each for Nepal while Bardan Chalise, Lapka Lama and Binod Das picked up a wicket each.

Chalise is currently in United States of America and still playing cricket. He plays the North Texas Cricket League for Dallas County Cricket Club as team mate with  former US captain Jignesh Desai who played for USA in 2004 ICC Trophy.
