International Youth Day Celebrations starts with Green Thread

Green Thread is innovative concept to make people committed towards Green Culture. This concept basically encourages people to tie up a Green Thread in hand and act for Green Change.

In Nepal, this concept was launched first time by 'We' for Change, on the occasion of 'World Environment Day 2013'.This concept is practiced in Germany by 'youthinkgreen' organization.

“The Green Thread”

By distributing green woolen bracelets to decision makers the message
“Do not lose your green thread ever“
is spread. Our goal is to catch the attention of everyone and to give bracelets as a symbols of YOUTHinkgreen movement. This action is also an opportunity for the students to talk to politicians and distribute the catalogue of claims.

At the same time, this action is carried out in all partner countries of YouThinkGreen with national media coverage. The students of each country  organize their own “green thread“ actions trying to catch the attention of local politicians. This local action starts on the 4th of June, the International Day of Sustainability.

Mrs. Christiana Figueres, the new patron of YouThinkGreen, UNFCCC Executive Secretary, received a green bracelet during an official act at the Rio+20 summit from partner ambassadors of the YouThinkGreen group in Brasil.

'We' for Change along with other supporting organizations YouThinkGreen, Thames International CollegeRotaract Club of Kathmandu Mid-Town, YUWA and View Your Choice- तपाईको सोचाई हाम्रो रोजाई -  will encourage the public at the Patan Durbar Square from 4pm to 6pm to live a more healthy and sustainable lifestyle.
