Water is key to Food Security. Crops and livestock need water to grow. Agriculture requires large quantities of water for irrigation and of good quality of various production processes.
Roughly 30% of the food produced worldwide – about 1.3 billion tons - is lost or wasted every year, which means that the water used to produce it is also wasted.
3.4 million people, mostly children , die annually from water related diseases. Most of these illnesses and deaths can be prevented through simple, inexpensive measures.
