Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon all set to kick off

The most adventurous trial in the world begins 29 May, 2014 with 10th edition of the Tenzing-Hillary Everest Marathon (THEM). Every year its being started to commemorate the first successful ascent of Everest by Late Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Late Sir Edmund Hillary on 29th May, 1953.



2014 Marathon highlights with more around 107 total international participants from USA, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Great Britain, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Thailand taking part in this event. There are 28 participants from Great Britain while 22 from Australia being the large number of participants participating so far while as 70 runners from Nepal shall be participating as well. Mount Everest & its height will be taken as iconic emblem for the Marathon Event as Everest height as the marathon Start time on May 29 at 8 AM, 8 Minutes & 48 Seconds. And the same time will be followed for earlier year's. Participants will be assembling at Arch Circle Buddhist Monk sitting position style and pray for world peace setting concentration toward the direction of Lumbini, Maya Devi Temple & Ashokan Pillar, a sacred garden where Buddha was born.

The organizers are also introducing to digital system from this year. Pray for a moment of silence for the recent Avalanche victims in Everest for their soul to rest eternal Peace in the heaven, the organizers are all set for the 18 days trekking trip from 16th May, 2014.

This year some runners have a reason to run as well where Dougie Paton, a banker by profession,  is running for is wife Jane who suddenly died four years ago to a condition called dilated cardiomyopathy while they lived in Edinburgh. Former soldier Mr. Matt Zwart, 35 from Grimsby to take on grueling Mount Everest marathon challenge. He will be running the marathon on May 12 in aid of The Colonel's Fund, a charity which raises money for servicemen and ex-serviceman of the Grenadier Guards, who Matt served for. The Neverest Girls are undertaking their challenge in support of local charity A Chacun Son Everest; a charity based in Les Praz that gives much needed respite to children and, more recently, to women in recovery from cancer (to raise awareness of breast cancer and funds. While, school Teacher Steve Hill will be running his first marathon on Mount Everest on his efforts to support Leukemia and Lymphoma Research, the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, When You Wish Upon A Star and Macmillan Cancer Support. Eight Israeli and one with Palestinian origin girl Olfat Haider are running the Marathon are running along with Four Brazilian Runner running the Everest Extreme Ultra Marathon 60K – Mr .Bernardo Fonseca a high level North Face Sponsored Athlete setting out to make best international participant time.

Out of 107  international runners,  10 Everest Extreme Ultra runners, 91  Full marathon runners and 6 half marathon runners. The local runners are still registering.
