Amazing Teenagers!

Teenagers are always curious and have a lot of energy to try new things in life. "Teenagers are the future of our nation," as the cliché goes. Teenagers play an  important role in the mission towards the development of their community, region, country, and the world.


Here is a story of amazing “Glocal Teen Heroes”  who have made a significant contribution to society. Their inspirational initiation and originality motivates every teenager to take action. The work they've done for society at such a young age proves that "Age Is Just a Number!"

1.BIPANA SHARMA - CHILD ACTIVIST

At age of 11, Ms. Bipana started working for a Child-Friendly Local Governance. Her strong determination and self – motivation led her to advocate and address child right issues through local planning, District periodic planning and Balbhela. Also, Her leadership role has driven child clubs and networks of Sunwol municipality in CFLG movements to declare Sunwol as Nepal’s first CFLG municipality on 15 of June. 

In 2015 she was awarded as “Glocal Teen Hero – 2015” by Glocal Pvt. ltd. for her contribution towards society. In the same year; She also achieved the “Asian Girls Human Rights Award – 2015 in Taiwan. 

Recently, She was also awarded with “The outstanding youth of Nation , 2019. Now, she speaks in different forums about Children’s issues nationally and internationally and gives training to children, parents and teachers about Child Rights and CFLG. Her main goal or purpose  is to make Nepal a “CHILD FRIENDLY COUNTRY”!!

2. SANTOSH LAMICHHANE - YOUNG SCIENTIST

About Lamichhane; his story is very much different than others. Since childhood; he used to love to play with motors. His interest towards cars and innovation led him to modify small cars into robots and invent a “Corn Thresher Machine”. 

When he was in class 6; he first attempted to make a robot, and took a step into mechanical engineering, and has been in the sector since then. For his passion and greater contribution through his innovation; He was recognized as the winner of the “National Mechanical Exhibition” and then “Winner of the Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero, 2016”. He is well known for his invention, the Corn Thresher Machine. 

Currently he is pursuing his undergraduate degree in Engineering and has been leading “Suvahari Motors” in Australia.

3. SACHIN DANGI - SCIENTIFIC ENTREPRENEUR

Sachin Dangi is a young leader and entrepreneur. He is a president of Teenage Society of Nepal- an online group with 5000 Nepali Teenagers. The group has 13 core team members with 70 Volunteers. During the earthquake, he mobilized 5000 volunteers for the social cause which makes him one of the inspirational teenagers.

He has been helping to inspire the number of teens in Nepal. Through Kaicho Nepal, he developed and installed smart attendance systems in schools, developed motion sensor brakes and many others. For his greater contribution and chain impact he was awarded as “Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero, 2017”. 

Currently he is involved in “Bizonomics” which mainly focuses on education about business and economics. He is also an Ambassador of OYA for Nepal and New York Academy of Sciences. Also, a recipient of Honorable Mention Award 2017 (NMUN), Malaysia and New York Academy of Sciences UTC Challenge.

4. PRASHANSHA KC - SOCIAL ACTIVIST & YOUTUBER

Prashansha KC is a social activist who is working against the “Child marriage”. “Kidnap marriage” and “Women Empowerment”. She has done research on “Child marriage and Kidnap marriage” in communities of Rukum district to get a depth understanding of issues. She also conducted awareness campaigns to educate people and created a good environment for future generations to grow and develop. Her strong initiation in Rukum makes her one of the inspirational Girl and Teenager. For her contribution; She was awarded as “Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero – Nepal, 2018”.

Now, Miss KC films documentaries related to social problems with a purpose to educate, aware and inspire youths. She is also a recipient of “Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs Award 2019” and Global Ambassador of Happy World Foundation Inc.  She has also won the the “Short film Competition” By UNICEF

As a civil engineer student; she would like to build schools in Rukum and help childrens to provide better education. 

5. SAMIR PHUYAL - TECH ENTHUSIAST

Samir Phuyal is an emerging entrepreneur and tech enthusiast from Morang. He has  initiated an online advertising platform called “Naya Kinmel” and YouTube channel “HamroTech” which teaches web development and programming on Nepali Language.

Additionally, he has also taught more than 13k people worldwide about Django through Udemy app to build a powerful web application. He has also developed Magic of Words Summaries and QnA app to help +2 students on their course., He is also running Hamro Tech YouTube Channel which teaches Web Development and Programming on Nepali Language. He was awarded as the “Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero, 2019″ for his initiation and making an impact. 

6. MANDIRA SHRESTHA - AN EMPATHETIC HEALTH ACTIVIST

Mandira Shrestha is a 19-year-old passionate Health Activist from Ramechhap who has been involved in several campaigns related to child rights. Since childhood, she has been fond of helping and serving people. Mandira joined a child club at her school when she was in grade 6 and she started her journey of health activism at a very young age. Even at that young age, she was aware of the problems that could be solved by active engagement.

Mandira worked as a team leader of the Child-led report on UPR, 2020 and disturbing findings. She is also a member of the Integrated National Adolescent Girls Forum, which works to improve the situation for girls who have been deprived of proper opportunities. To share her academic knowledge, she is working with Nepal Online School to develop and deploy nursing courses so that nursing education is available to everyone. 

For her great contribution in society; She was awarded as Wai Wai Glocal Teen Hero - Nepal for the year 2020. Now, it has been 10  years since she first entered the field of social work through the field of children's rights. Today through her work, Mandira is inspiring thousands of young people to be the change that they wish to see. Her work and initiative has reached over  thousands of people across Nepal. Thus, today she has been featured on “WOW Magazine” for her great contributions towards society. 

Recently, Mandira and the team of the Quick Response Centre (QRC) have mobilized to launch rescue operations for flood victims in the Sindhupalchok district's Talamarang, Melamchi, and Helambu areas. Through health camps, she is aiding the victims and vulnerable at the Sindhupalchowk disaster site.
