World Forum for Ethics in Business kicks off

The World Forum for Ethics in Business (WFEB) Conference has commenced from January 15, 2014 (Thursday) at Katmandu with their sessions on World Youth Forum and a talk program with Rajita Kulkarni, President of WFEB, on The Role of Women in Instilling Human Values and Ethics in Society.

For the Youth Forum, a group of 60 youths from diverse backgrounds were selected for a training session by Mr. Christoph Glaser, an international trainer with WFEB and Rajita Kulkarni. The participants for the session held on 16 and 17 January, 2014 at Hotel Annapurna, were selected by a committee consisting of Santosh Shah, a Foreign Policy leader, Keepa Handa, Founding member of Daya Foundation, Paramita Shakya, a youth entrepreneur and the WFEB committee itself.

The basic aim of the training session is to prepare Nepali youths to work for the betterment of society and for a prosperous Nepal. The participants will also be making a presentation, “Call of the Youth”, based on the session to be presented on the 17th during the World Forum for Ethics in Business Nepal 2014 Conference. Moreover, the participants were also invited to be a part of the World Youth Forum (WYF) global youth team at the EU Parliament in November 2014 during their annual WFEB conference.
After the session Kulkarni said,
 "I am amazed by the talent, enthusiasm and dynamism of the young leaders of World Youth Forum in Nepal. From all the discussions that we had during our sessions I believe that Nepal has great hope for prosperity." 
During the The Role of Women in Instilling Human Values and Ethics in Society session that was held at Hotel Dwarika on Thursday, Rajita Kulkarni, President of WFEB, talked about the vital roles that women play to establish human values in society and the need for them to nurture themselves to build the basis for empowerment.  The session was followed by an interactive question and answers session where both Kulkarni and the participants put in their thoughts on the matter.  She also led the participants for a light yoga and guided meditation as a means to be refocused and more effective.

The session also included a discussion about the upcoming session, "Business Ethics for a Prosperous Nepal", that will be held at Soaltee Crowne Plaza on 17 January, 2014 and 6th International Women's Conference on Harmony: Evolution Towards Perfection on 7-9 February, 2014 at Bangalore, India. The session was attended by 32 women leaders of Nepal including Ambica Shrestha CEO Dwarikas, Shreejana Rana, Director Annapurna Hotel, Jaya Shah, District Governor Designate for Nepal and Bhutan, Sadhana Shrestha Chairperson TEWA, Keepa Handa Founder Daya Foundation, Moushumi Shrestha, Senior Advisor Practical Action, Pratima Pande, President Nepal Britain Society and so on.

The World Forum for Ethics in Business (WFEB) is a registered public interest foundation based in Belgium. The mandate of the Forum includes all manners of pursuing and establishing the indispensable ethical foundations of business in a globalized world. Through the International Leadership Symposium on Ethics in Business, the WFEB brings together leaders from all sectors of society to dialogue on the pressing need to strengthen human values and ethics in private and public sector. 

The World Forum for Ethics in Business Conference has been held at the European Parliament, Brussels, for over nine years.  WFEB Global has aimed at seeking to foster public and private solutions to development challenges, and this forum seeks to showcase how the private sector can generate economic returns while also solving societal problems.  The outcome of this conference is to create WFEB Nepal. The proceedings and recommendations of this Conference will guide its aims and objects, as well as its nature and scope.
